Dr Isa A. Hezekiah graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University medical school, Zaria. Three years later he returned to Zaria again for his residency training in the department of Haematology and blood transfusion, Ahmadu Bello university teaching hospital. During the training he participated in an USA, NIH sponsored research on the prevalence of secondary portal arterial hypertension in sickle cell disease patients which was conducted in the department. He became a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCPath) in 2008.
Thereafter he worked briefly as a Consultant haematologist at the Barau Dikko Specialist hospital, Kaduna where he established the adult sickle cell clinic. Currently he is a senior lecturer, the pioneer acting head of department of Haematology and blood transfusion, College of Health Science Bingham university and an honourary consultant haematologist Bingham university teaching Hospital Jos.
