Dr. A. Hassan attended the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria Nigeria where he graduated with an M.B,B.S degree. He undertook his residency training in Haematology at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) and
became a fellow (FMCPath) of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2008. Since 2009 he has been working as a Consultant Haematologist and is involved in the management and care of sickle cell disease patients. He has attended conferences, seminars and workshops within and outside Nigeria. He currently serves as the North-West coordinator of the Sickle Cell Support Society of Nigeria. He is a fellow of the Austrian-American Foundation (AAF), member of Nigerian Society for Haematology and Blood transfusion (NSHBT), African Society for Blood Transfusion (AfSBT) and International Society for Blood Transfusion (ISBT)
